Gay or Asian Update
Joey daVilla updates the Gay or Asian debacle. I still wonder where was the uproar when the first article ( Gay or Guido ) hit the streets. My Italian-American brethren don't seem to organize well.
This should prove the point that it is much easier and understandable to poke fun at yourself. If Whitney McNally had been Gay, Asian, British, Preppy, Jesus, or a Democratic Front Runner she might have pulled off some self-deprecating humor. But with those she just comes off mean spirited.
I agree with Joey that Whitney McNally should not be fired. Those articles were not created in a vacuum and were probably assigned by the editor. (Who should be fired if anyone is. He is the person responsible for all content.)
I'm not sure I'd pay to see him wrestle McNally in creamed corn. Maybe if it was a donation to GLAAD...
