I am Curious Loyal
You might have missed this: Loyalty Day, 2007 by the President of the United States of America a Proclamation
Now, if you are like me, you immediately saw the future Loyalty Day parades; smart soldiers marching beside tanks, children with flowers in their hair, rolling jail cells of the Un-Loyal where True Citizens pelt them with eggs and rocks.
I remember when May 1st was the day Conservatives scoffed at the U.S.S.R. May Day Parades. They would remind everyone how much better off we were in the Good Ol' USA™. I thought they hated Communism; now I realize they wanted the day for themselves.
How are we expected to celebrate May 1st? "Loyalty Day encourages citizens to demonstrate their commitment to our country by supporting our military, serving each other, and teaching our young people about our history and values."
I will celebrate by questioning the Black Budget, by joining protests against unjust laws, and teaching my children how to work toward an inclusive society.
Loyalty Day should not be on May 1st, but belongs on the first Tuesday in November. On that day I will prove my loyalty to the USA by voting for a person who respects the constitution and the people who live under its protection.
My vote will go to a person who understands Americans show loyalty by protecting our rights, by protesting when our government makes the wrong choices, and by ensuring that the next generation is not left with a debt that will crush their future. My vote will not go to the man whose hollow words never match his harmful actions. In other words: my vote will not go to the man who proclaimed Loyalty Day.
